Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CoolSculpting treatment painful?
Most patients report that CoolSculpting is a comfortable treatment. CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure, there is no surgery, no needles and almost no downtime. During the treatment you may feel slight tugging and pulling as the treated area is drawn into a gentle vacuum applicator. You may then feel the sensation of cold while you are comfortably relaxing, watching tv, reading or even taking a nap.
How long before you can see results?
You can start to see results in as little as 3 weeks, with more dramatic results that continue over 3 months.
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
Pricing is dependent on the area being treated, the number of sessions needed and your desired goals and outcomes. Pricing can vary as it is not a “one size fits all” treatment.
Does CoolSculpting really work?
Yes! Coolsculpting is the #1 non invasive fat reduction method worldwide. It is an effective solution for permanent fat reduction. Coolsculpting is not for everyone and is not a weight loss treatment, it is a fat loss treatment.
How much fat can you lose with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting can safely and permanently eliminate 20-25% of the treated fat cells each treatment.
More dramatic results occur with multiple treatments. Depending on your desired outcome, you may be satisfied with the results of one treatment, while many patients hoping for a full transformation may require more than one treatment.
What happens to the treated fat that is frozen by CoolSculpting?
The treated fat cells are frozen in the CoolSculpting process (cryolipolisis), they then crystalize and die (apoptosis) and the body naturally metabolizes and eliminates the dead fat cells through your lymphatic and excretory system over a period of 6 to 12 weeks. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they are gone for good!
What are the side effects of CoolSculpting?
There is no downtime associated with a CoolSculpting treatment. You can resume your normal activities immediately after your treatment. The treatment site may be slightly red after your treatment for a few minutes. It is also common to have mild soreness, tenderness, swelling or bruising for a few days after your treatment. Numbness, tingling and loss of sensation is also common and can be experienced for a few weeks after your CoolSculpting treatment.
Will insurance cover my CoolSculpting treatment?
CoolSculpting is a voluntary cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance.
What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?
The most common, and FDA cleared areas CoolSculpting can treat include
- Under the chin (double chin)
- Arms
- Abdomen
- Flanks (love handles, muffin top)
- Inner thighs
- Outer thighs (saddle bags)

Is CoolSculpting right for everyone?
There are 2 types of fat tissue
- Fat that is closer to the surface of the skin
- Fat that is on the inside of the muscular wall (visceral fat)
CoolSculpting is effective at treating pichable fat near the surface of the skin. Visceral fat can not be reached with CoolSculpting.
Will I lose weight with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss method, but a fat loss treatment.
Can I do anything to enhance my results?
Healthy diet and exercise are encouraged throughout your Coolsculpting process. Your weight is recorded on each visit to ensure your body weight is maintained. Weight gain after your procedure can prevent you from appreciating your full results.
Do your fat cells move to another area once they are frozen?
No. Fat cells do not move. Fat cells are evenly distributed throughout the body. Treated fat cells are permanently eliminated and can make surrounding, untreated tissue appear to be larger. This is why we encourage an entire area to be treated.
Is CoolSculpting a treatment for lose skin?
CoolSculpting is not a treatment for lose skin. However, you may experience mild skin retraction after your treatment
How many CoolSculpting treatments will I need?
Many patients are satisfied with the results of one treatment, while others may require multiple treatments depending on your desired goals and outcomes.
